At wwdc, Apple
has announced the 6th version of its mobile operatig system. According
to the company, iOS 6 comes with more than 200 new features and
improvements.
In this post i have listed some major features added in this version of iOS:
Facebook integration: Apple has added a deep Facebook integration in this iOS 6. Now it will be easier to status updates, share photos, and share links directly from other iOS applications installed in device. Facebook contacts will get integrated in iOS 6 and events and birthdays can also sync with the calendar.
Smarter Siri: Apple has added SIRI in the previous version of the iOS. IOS 6 has improved the SIRI and made it smarter. Now SIRI ca open applications on your device. You can ask SIRI to play music. SIRI can also tweet on your Twitter account. It is now abale to pull in scores, game summaries and player stats from sports websites. It will now give you review and reservation stats. Apple has also announced SIRI for iPad.
Passbook: Passbook is a nice feature which allow users to store digital version of all their tickets, boarding passes, coupons, and merchant cards in one place. This is really helpful feature.
Apple maps: In iOS 6, Apple officially dumped Google maps and added Apple Maps. Apple Maps is also integrated with SIRI with some voice commands. This new Mapping service shows 3D mps which includes a flyover/3-D mode that offers incredible detail of U.S. cities, too. It is really impressive.
Mail: Apple has improved mail in iOS 6. Now mail will have 2 inbox: VIP inbox and Flagged inbox. the VIP inbox will only show mails from contacts you have marked as VIPs. You will also get push notifications for VIP mails.
Now you can add photos and videos directly from the compose window and open password protected documents within the Mail app.
Safari: Apple has added a new feature in the mobile browser which is already available in all popular web browsers. Now Safari can sync open tabs from Safari on a desktop to Safari on an iOS device via iCloud.
Facetime: Facetime is a video calling (video telephone) software application developed by Apple Inc. It was released 2 years back and finally, with iOS6, it will be available over 3G.
