South Korea approves the use of Twitter for election campaigns

South Korea’s Constitutional Court has lifted the ban on the use of Twitter and other social networking sites, during election campaigns. The government candidates were previously not allowed to distribute promotional publications and other materials for 180 days prior to voting, and the national election watchdog had classified Twitter postings related to elections or candidates as one of the banned materials. The court ruling now allows candidates to reach out to voters via online and mobile media before the elections. According to the Yonhap News, the move comes after a group of opposition lawmakers and civic activists filed a petition with the court in March last year, stating that the regulation curbs the candidate’s freedom of expression. On Thursday, the court reversed National Election Commission’s ban on use of Twitter for campaigning. “The Internet is a medium that offers easy access to people for free or with very low cost. Therefore, it is considered as a political sphere that can drastically cut campaign costs. The nature of the medium fits into the election law that seeks fair opportunity, transparency and low-cost campaigns,” the court said in the ruling. It also pointed out that the current election monitoring system and preliminary measures to prevent spreading false information are already in place to prevent possible side effects from online campaigns. South Koreans are highly active on social networking platforms, and the country has a huge population of smartphone users. Twitter, is therefore, the best medium for politicians to reach out to the voters in the country.

Apple to launch its next-generation iPad in January

Apple will unveil two versions of its next-generation iPad at the iWorld trade show scheduled for January 26, 2012. According to the DigiTimes reports, the new models will join Apple’s existing iPad 2, and will focus on the mid-range and the high-end segments. Sharp will be the major panel supplier for Apple’s next-generation iPad series, while Samsung Electronics and LG Display are also responsible for a part of the orders, according to the sources at its supply chain partners. Instead of the previously-rumored 7.85-inch, the upcoming iPad models will continue to feature 9.7-inch screens, and would have come with QXGA resolution (1,536×2,048 pixels), and Dual-LED light bars designed to strengthen the brightness of the panels. Search giant Google is also rumored to launch its own Android tablets, competing with Apple, in the next six months. Google Chairman Eric Schmidt told an Italian newspaper that the company plans to market a tablet of highest quality in the next six months. Reports claim that the new tablet is already in production at Apple’s Chinese suppliers.

High Court issues notices to telecom companies for extra SMS charges

You no longer need to pay extra charges for sending SMSes during festivals and special occasions. According to a recent report from the Times of India, the Madras High Court has sent a petition asking companies and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), to ban hike in the SMS charges during special days. Arunachalam , who filed the petition against telcos, said that mobile operators offered attractive packages while enrolling customers, including 200 Free SMS for Rs one a day, 50 paise per SMS, but still maintained special SMS tariffs on important festivals like Pongal, Christmas, New year, Valentine’s day, Independence day, Diwali, and on special occasions such as New year’s eve. This forces users to restrict SMS on these important days , when they are likely to use the SMS services more. Notices have been issued to the Trai chairperson and Zonal/Regional Managers of 10 companies– Bharti Airtel ltd, Aircel Ltd, Vodafone, Reliance, Idea Cellular, Unitech, Tata Docomo, MTS mobile, BSNL mobile and Videocon.

Google surpasses Facebook as the most-visited site in 2011

Facebook may be dominating the social-networking space, but search giant Google surpassed Facebook as the most-visited web brand in the U.S in 2011, according to the recent report released by Nielson. In 2011, 153.4 million people in the U.S. visited Google sites per month, on average, from home and office computers. Facebook was the second most-visited U.S. web brand with 137, 644 million people visiting the site per month. Yahoo took the 3rd spot with 130,121 visitors on an average per month. Facebook continues to be the most popular social networking site though. Surprising, Google‘s Blogger saw more visitors than Twitter this year. According to the Nielson report, there were 45,712 visitors visiting Blogger per month in 2011, while Twitter saw only 23,574 visitors in a month. Google+, saw only 8,207 visitors, which clearly indicates that the site has a long way to go, before it can compete with the top players in the social networking space. Experian Hitwise has also published the list of most-visited sites and most-searched terms of the year, and according to its results, Facebook is the top-visited website in the U.S in 2011 surpassing Google. Facebook.com had 10.29 percent of visits, while Google.com had 7.70 percent of visits this year. However, if you consider all Google properties – YouTube, Blogger, Google+ etc, then the results of Experian match with that of Nielson and Google is found to be leading with 11.98 percent of all U.S. visits and Facebook properties account for 8.93 percent of the visits. The differences in the results of Nielson and Experian may also be due to the fact that companies conducted the study differently. While Nielsen focused on individual visitors per month, Experian Hitwise looked at total visits for the year. So, based on the above results we can say that Facebook and Google are dominating the web today and other web giants like Twitter, LinkedIn, Yahoo and Microsoft need to work hard in order to catch up with the two.

What is Image Resolution?

The resolution of an image refers to the density of the pixels (picture element or color grid or tiny color square or printed dots) that make up image or digital image or graphics on a web page or photos from a digital camera. Image resolution determines the number of pixels that a digital image can contain and as such the depth of quality and size of the file. Once take a picture with your digital camera or scan an image, it becomes digitalized and made up of hundreds of thousands of pixels. Pixels are nothing more than very tiny colored squares. If you increase the magnification of any image you will eventually see the individual square pixels that make up the image. www.anuprashbd.com/ Anchor Text: Image Resolution

best hosting

A dedicated hosting service, dedicated server, or managed hosting service is a type of Internet hosting in which the client leases an entire server not shared with anyone. This is more flexible than shared hosting, as organizations have full control over the server(s), including choice of operating system, hardware, etc. Server administration can usually be provided by the hosting company as an add-on service. In some cases a dedicated server can offer less overhead and a larger return on investment. Dedicated servers are most often housed in data centers, similar to colocation facilities, providing redundant power sources and HVAC systems. In contrast to colocation, the server hardware is owned by the provider and in some cases they will provide support for your operating system or applications. www.webhostingbuzz.co.uk

While 2011 was not a breakthrough year for Microsoft products, the company held steady amid criticism regarding its absence from the tablet market, its late arrival to the cloud, and low sales for Windows Phones. However, financially the bottom line was not a problem in Redmond. For fiscal 2011, Microsoft notched a record-breaking $69.9 billion in revenue, up 12 percent from fiscal 2010. And it did this despite sluggish sales of Windows and PCs. Despite the modest increases in sales, Windows is still a massive revenue generator for the cash-rich Microsoft. Add to that strong sales of Xbox and Xbox Kinect and the tight grip Microsoft has on the enterprise with Office, SharePoint, Exchange, Lync and Windows Server licenses, and the company will continue to thrive financially in 2012, according to industry analysts.

Google gives Mozilla lifeline as it renews Firefox deal

Google has renewed a deal to remain the default search engine within Mozilla's Firefox web browser. The non-profit foundation said it had "negotiated a significant and mutually beneficial revenue agreement" with Google for the next three years. Some analysts had predicted Google would back out of the deal as it tries to grow the market share of its Chrome browser. Mozilla relies heavily on the income generated by search partnerships. "Under this multi-year agreement, Google Search will continue to be the default search provider for hundreds of millions of Firefox users around the world," said Gary Kovacs, Mozilla's chief executive. Alan Eustace, Google's senior vice-president of search, said: "Mozilla has been a valuable partner to Google over the years and we look forward to continuing this great partnership in the years to come." The foundation said the exact terms of the deal would not be disclosed. In its accounts for 2010, the Mozilla Foundation said it earned $121.1m (£77m) from agreements with Google, Microsoft and others. The Google agreement was thought to make up about 85% of that amount.

Irish privacy watchdog calls for Facebook changes

The Irish data protection commissioner has recommended widespread changes to improve privacy on Facebook. They include making its terms and conditions clearer and offering users greater control over how their data is used on the site. The findings are particularly significant because Facebook Ireland was given responsibility for all non-US and Canadian data in September 2010. Facebook has six months to implement the changes. Commissioner Billy Hawkes will conduct a formal review of its progress in July. Commenting on the report, he said: "This was a challenging engagement both for my office and for Facebook Ireland. The audit has found a positive approach and commitment on the part of FB-I [Facebook Ireland] to respecting the privacy rights of its users."

Modern Ramayan (Bill Gates)

Once When Bill Gates was in India, he had a chance to listen Ramayana from Atal Behari Vajpayee. After returning to US he wrote it in his personal Diary.
LAN, LAN ago, in the SYSTEM of I/O-dhya,there ruled a PROCESSORnamed DOS-rat.
Once he EXECUTED a great sacrifice PROGRAM after which his queens gave an OUTPUT of four SUNs–RAM,LSIman,BUG-rat and SED-rughana.
RAM the eldest was a MICROCHIP with excellent MEMORY.
His brothers, however, were only PERIPHERAL ICs. Once when RAM was only 16MB, he married princess ‘C‘ta.
12years passed and DOS-rat decided to INSTAL RAM as his successor.
However, Queen CIE/CAE (Kayegayee), who was once offered a boon by DOS-rat for a life saving HELP COMMAND, took this opportunity at the instigation of her BIOSed maid (a real plotter), and insisted that her son Bug-rat be INSTALLED and that RAM be BOOTED to the forest for 14 years.
At this cruel and unexpected demand, a SURGE passed thru DOS-rat and, he collapsed,power-less.
RAM agreed to LOG INTO forest and ‘C‘ta insisted to LOGIN with him. LSI-man was also resolved onLOGGING IN with his brother.
The forest was the dwelling of SPARCnakha, the TRANSISTOR of RAW-van,PROCESSOR of LAN- ka.
Attracted by RAM‘s stature, she proposed that he marry her.
RAM, politely declined. Perceiving ‘C‘ta to be the SOURCE CODE of her distress, she hastened to kill her. Weeping,SPARC-nakha fled to LAN-ka, where RAW-van, moved by RANSISTOR‘s plight, approached his uncle MAR-icha.
MAR-icha REPROGRAMED himself into the form of a golden stag and drew RAM deep into forest.
Finally, tired of chase, RAM shot the deer, who, with his last breath, cried out desperately for LSI-man inRAM‘s voice.
Fooled by this VIRTUAL RAM SOUND,’C‘ta urged LSI-man to his brother’s aid.
Catching the opportunity,RAW-van DELINKED ‘C‘ta from her LIBRAR and changed her ROOT DIRECTORY toLAN-ka.
—————-INTERVAL——————–
RAM and LSI-man started SEARCHING for the missing ‘C‘ta all over the forest.
They made friendship with the forest SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR SU-greev and his powerful co-processor Ha-NEUMAN.
SU-greev agreed to help RAM.SU-greev ordered his PROGRAMMERS to use powerful ‘SEARCH‘ techniques to FIND the missing ‘C’ta.
His ROGRAMMERS SEARCHED all around the INTER-NETworked forests. Many tried to ‘EXCITE’ the birds and animals not to forget the ‘WEBCRAWLERS‘ (Insects) and tried to ‘INFO SEEK’ something about ‘C‘ta.
Some of them even shouted ‘YA-HOO’ but they all ended up with ‘NOT FOUND MESSAGES’. Several other SEARCH techniques proved useless.Ha-NEUMAN devised a RISKy TECHNOLOGY and used it to cross the seas at anastonishing CLOCK SPEED.
Soon Ha-NEUMAN DOWNLOADED himself intoLAN-ka.After doing some local SEARCH, Ha-NEUMAN found ‘C’ta weeping under a TREE STRUCTURE.
Ha-NEUMAN used a LOGIN ID (ring) to identify himself to ‘C‘ta.
After DECRYPTING THE KEY, ‘C‘ta believed in him and asked him to send a ‘STATUS_OK’ MESSAGE to RAM. Meanwhile all the raakshasa BUGS around ‘C‘ta carptured Ha-NEUMAN and tried to DELETE him using pyro-techniques.
But Ha-NEUMAN managed to spread chaos by spreading the VIRUS ‘Fire’.Ha-NEUMAN happily pressed ESCAPE from LAN-ka and conveyed all the STATUS MESSAGES toRAM and SU-greev. RAW-wan decided to take the all powerful RAM head-on and prepared for the battle. One of the RAW-wan’sSUN(son) almost DELETED RAM & LSI-man with a powerful brahma-astra. But Ha-NEUMAN resorted to some ACTIVE-X gradients and REFORMATTED RAM and LSI-man.
RAM used the SOURCE CODE secrets of RAW-wan and once for all wiped out RAW-wan’s presense on earth.
After the battle, RAM got INSTALLED in I/O-dhya and spreaded his MICROSOFT WORKS and other USER FRIENDLY PROGRAMS to all USERS and every one lived happily ever after.
